NORTH RICHMOND — A 46-year-old man died of injuries he suffered when he was shot near Shields-Reid Park, police said.
The victim was identified by Richmond police as Shedrick Williams, a Las Vegas resident and North Richmond native. He was shot in the head with a high-caliber weapon around 1 p.m. Thursday, in a shooting that also injured his brother.
Police have not released a motive or said if Williams or his brother was the intended target. Over the weekend, authorities released a video with pictures of a white sedan that has been linked to the killing.
The shooting happened at about 1:40 p.m. near Kelsey Street and Gertrude Avenue. Williams was taken by helicopter to a trauma center and placed on life support, which he remained on until his death. His brother was treated for a nonfatal gunshot wound and released from the hospital the same day.
Police have not announced any arrests or named any suspects.
