LIVE market updates: The Indian benchmark indices slid in noon deals of Tuesday’s volatile session, with gains in public sector banks being offset by weakness in pharma stocks.
The S&P BSE Sensex hovered around 48,590 levels, down 120 points. Earlier, the index had risen to as high as 48,997. The broader Nifty50 index hovered near 14,600-mark. Dr Reddy’s, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Reliance Industries fell over 1 per cent, each, and were the top Sensex laggards.
Among other individual stocks, L&T Technology Services fell over 8 per cent after announcing their quarterly results.
Majority of the Nifty sectoral indices traded in the green, led by Nifty PSU Bank index, up 5 per cent.
In the broader markets, the S&P BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices traded 1 per cent up, each.
