Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has joined the Fox News Channel as a contributor in his first new job after the Trump administration.

There has been much speculation about Pompeo’s next job, and he has been mentioned as a 2024 possible presidential candidate.

There is also some belief that that he could be considering a run for the Senate from his home state of Kansas, where he had previously served as a Member of Congress in the 4th District.

A statement from Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott read in part, “Mike Pompeo is one of America’s most recognized and respected voices on foreign policy and national security issues. I look forward to his contributions across our range of platforms to share his distinct perspective with our millions of viewers.”

Pompeo put out a statement as well.

“As a now former diplomat and member of Congress, and in this new role at Fox News Media, I intend to give viewers a candid, no-nonsense look at geopolitics, international relations and the America First policies that helped chart the course for unprecedented American prosperity and security.”

Mike Pompeo has an impressive resume.

He graduated first in his class from West Point – later serving as a cavalry officer patrolling the East/West German border during the cold war, and then graduated from Harvard Law, before serving four terms in Congress from 2011 to 2017.

The Bill of Rights is under attack on nearly every front. We fought for it and we will always fight for it. They’ve called us “disrupters” and “anti-establishment.”

To that I say: you bet we are!

Trump Alumni Hit Job Wall

Since the Jan. 6 protests and subsequent riot that took place at the Capitol, many of those who served in the Trump administration are not seeing offers for advantageous and esteemed positions that might normally come the way of a former presidential staffer.

Business Insider reports that Matt Schlapp, Chairman of the American Conservative Union, says former Trump staffers are considered “radioactive” at the moment. Former George W. Bush staffers faced a similar predicament, “but even that was nothing compared to what Trump/Pence people are finding themselves in today.”

Schlapp put the unfortunate scenario in a nutshell, “If I had a dollar for every time someone in Washington said to me, hey, I’m really looking to hire someone for X job, but they can’t have worked for the Trump administration, I’d have a great sum of money.”

The Hill writes that the general consensus among lobbying firms in Washington D.C. is that former Trump employees who had established careers would be fine, but for younger people just starting out in the world of Washington D.C., one former Bush aide put it, “I think you’re basically un-hirable.”

A former Republican aide-turned-lobbyist also told a story that is common around the nation’s Capitol.

“We had a lobbyist with one of our clients tell us, unprovoked, that if we hired a certain Trump official, that they would fire us. It wasn’t even somebody we were considering. This official was just that toxic.

Clients want to know if you’re going to send in someone who worked in the previous administration, are they still going to get the required results? Will their calls get answered?”

Job Prospects Not All Bad For Trump Aides

The job search has not been all negative for those coming out of the Trump administration.

Mike Pompeo will join former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany as a Fox News Contributor. Another former White House Press Secretary, Sean Spicer, hosts a show on the Newsmax network.

And yet another former White House Press Secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders has headed home to Arkansas to run for Governor in 2022.

Among other former Trump aides, former HUD Secretary Dr. Ben Carson and former advisor Steven Miller have both started their own organizations.

Former Vice President Mike Pence just announced a book deal, and that he is starting a political advocacy group that has also brought on board Trump alumni Kellyanne Conway, Larry Kudlow, and Ross Vought.
